this used to come easy, but it doesn't anymore

Do you ever have that feeling when you know you need to do something, but you just don’t want to do it?

Even more, you actually really want something for yourself but you can’t get yourself to do it?

This is me…with exercise.

Years ago though, this was not me.

An athlete who loves to move my body, I was self-motivated and eager to make the time, get dressed, tie those shoes and workout.

Even during my 10-year season of staying home with my kids,

so this happened last week...

So I went to my functional MD last week and got my blood test results from my yearly physical. It was 'the big blood test' as I call it because it's a lot of tubes of blood and I get a lot of information. Sometimes more than I might want - at first anyway.

The good news was that there were improvements, especially with my thyroid.

Along with the good was the not as good. Nothing too concerning; just not as optimal as I had hoped. Which led me down a path for a few minutes (or maybe a day or two) of 'why even try?!'

I had to learn this the hard way

Angelle here.

When I was younger - my teens and twenties - I was pretty clueless about my body and what she needed and it took me learning the hard way that apparently it was not Mountain Dew, Ken's Pizza and Reese's Cups every day or staying up past midnight every night. ;)

As a result of not really understanding the connection between self-care and health and also not knowing what my unique body needed, I spent a lot of years dealing with all kinds of health issues and symptoms.

One of the most challenging issues I put up with month-after-month-after-month was

learning to ask better questions...

Recently, Jill cooked lunch for a group of women celebrating 'Friendsmas'. (Squash Pizza anyone?? We'll be sharing the recipe via Instagram in January so make sure you're following us there!)

During the cooking session it came up that one of the women 'lives on' diet coke and granola bars - something Jill could relate to from years ago.

The skin on her hands and wrists was patchy and red. She looked embarrassed and tried to cover it up with her sweater. She didn’t love the attention it was getting...until JIll said

your real Christmas list...

We have a question for you, but before we ask we’d love you to bring your attention to your heart for a moment while you take a few long slow breaths.

Did you feel a slight shift within yourself? We love that shift that happens within just a few seconds.

Now on to our question...

If we were to ask you to make your own Christmas wish list, one that comes through your heart instead of your head, what would be on that list?

We’re guessing that while the _____________ and _____________ might still be on there somewhere, what you really want is found at a deeper layer within your body and your spirit.
